Deceased Name: RODERIC "ROD" S. LAVICK Roderic "Rod" S. Lavick, 92, of Cloquet, passed
away on Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Sunnyside Health Care Center. He was born on Oct. 20, 1916 to Henry and Rose (Blum)
Lavick. Rod married beloved and devoted Peggy Davis on Dec. 24,
1941. In 1950, he opened Roderic's Furniture Store in Cloquet. Rod
successfully operated the business for over 30 years before retiring in the
early 1980's. During his life, Rod was an active and people-oriented person.
He sponsored and participated on a bowling team for many years and was
inducted into the Duluth Area Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Rod also
enjoyed fishing and hunting. In addition, he was an avid golfer and sponsored
the Rod Lavick Golf Tournament. As a community leader, he was a member of the
Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, Dalles Masonic Lodge 181, A.F.&A.M.,
Carlton County Board of Adjustment, Cloquet Country Club, and Temple Israel.
Even after retiring, Rod actively helped others. He volunteered for Meals on
Wheels, delivered prescriptions to those unable to get the medications on
their own, provided customer services for City National Bank, and was a
greeter at Wal-Mart. Rod was known for his playful personality, keen interest
in cars, and at times his eyebrow-raising colorful outfits. Rod had many
achievements, but he was proudest of his loving wife and family. He will be
missed. Rod was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald
Lavick and Charles Lavick; and sister, Charlotte Lempert. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Lavick of Cloquet;

Angeles, Calif., Neil (Marie) Lavick of Sierra Madre, Calif., Baylee (John)
